Michael is a brilliant story analyst and an uplifting speaker. At the two RWA Nationals he visited, people would grab a seat in the classroom in the morning just to be sure to have a space for his afternoon lecture. And all standing space was taken, even for his 2 hour workshops! He's just amazing. I'm so thrilled that our workshop coordinator, Tiffany James, was able to bring him in this year! I hope everyone who can join us does for this magical day!

Leslie,

I am so excited for Michael's workshop in July! I listened to his "Identity vs. Essence" workshop from the 2007 RWA National Conference on CD, and it transformed my writing. Can't wait to soak up his teaching for an entire day. Thanks for sharing the information about this workshop!

If you have a chance between now and his workshop review these movies as he refers to them often:

Shrek
Erin Brockovich
Titanic
Sideways
The Firm

At RWA he used Jennifer Crusie's book, Bet Me often for examples.

Thanks for the head's up Tina! Being familiar with the films he may be talking about helps tremendously.

Hi again -

I left a big long comment on some other page, but in response to Tina's list of movies, I'd add

WEDDING CRASHERS
GOOD WILL HUNTING
RAIN MAN
A BEAUTIFUL MIND
LA CONFIDENTIAL

You don't have to see all of them - I mention LOTS of movies when I lecture - but I'm certain to talk about all of these....

See you all soon!
