Now that I'm done....

I'm done with school! I graduated last week, and after three years of hard work, I'm ready to party.

But I need your help. What have I missed in the last three years? I read a lot during school, but my focus was pretty narrow, and now I want to broaden my view once again. My focus has been on urban fantasy, romance classics, and horror, but if you think I might have missed a book/series even in one of those genres, let me know!

One random commenter will win a copy of Allison Pang's A Brush of Darkness (because she rocks!). I'll draw a name at the end of the weekend.

I'll be thinking on this, KL. I just want to shout out congratulations! What a woman you are!

Congrats on graduating! Definitely time to party, chica - you've totally earned it.

Have you read Outlander?

(And thanks for the shout out!)

Thanks, Donnell and Allison. :)

A - I have not read Outlander! Can you believe that? I'll put it on my list.

Congratulations! There's nothing like the success of graduating.

I would suggest:

The Demon's Lexicon
The Demon's Covenant (Sara Rees Brennan)

The Huxtable Quintet by Mary Balogh
First Comes Marriage
Then Comes Seduction
At Last Comes Love
Seducing An Angel
A Secret Affair

Sea Witch
Sea Fever
Sea Lord (Virginia Kantra)

Have fun reading for pleasure! :)

It's been a long haul, I remember when at CB and you found out you were in the least that's the way "I" remember it.

Huge Congrats.

Reading? I, too, shall think on it. I've been reading mostly nonfiction how-to's, Harry Potter (never read any, waited until the last one was done, then dove in) and screenplays, but there's gotta be something for you in the virtual pile.

Hi KL:

So you think you’re finished?

Don’t you know a diploma is just a glorified learner’s permit?

I suggest the first “Harry Potter” book and “They Almost Always Come Home”.

And if you have not read it: “The Sorrows of Young Werther” by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Some think this to be the first Romantic novel. (Not Romance which has an HEA but Romantic which features death and unrequited love.)

Oh, gosh, ya'll are going to find out what a fraud I am. I've never read or seen Harry Potter. Should I put an L over my forehead?

KL Grady said...

Thanks for the suggestions, y'all, and keep them coming!

As for being really, truly, done? No. I'm not. But I'm on my own schedule...until I start a PhD. ;)

Gillian Layne said...

Donnell!! NEVER read Harry?

Please promise me you will read before you watch a movie. I love the movies, but they can't capture the magic of the books.

Donnell said...

Gillian, LOL. See why I mentioned the L over my forehead. I read a lot! Which is why I just haven't gotten around to it. And those books are monsters. But... if you insist they are that wonderful, I shall. Thank you!

Wait, this blog is KL's KL, I take it you've read Harry Potter!

Leslie Ann said...

KL, I was kinda joking when I said PhD...are you serious? Dr. Grady? Whoa.

KL Grady said...

LA, I'm totally serious. Not sure I'd be accepted into a program, but I'll try.

Leslie Ann said...

WOW! I'm sure you'll be accepted. Onward.

Have you read the Kate Daniels series by Ilona Andrews? It's one of my favourites UF series along with the Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost.

As for YA, Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins and Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles are two of my absolute favourites.

Congrats on graduating!!

Wow, you're getting good reads, KL. You'll also want to read First Grave on the Right by Darynda Jones!

KL Grady said...

Thanks, all! Congrats to Gillian, the winner of A Brush of Darkness. Woot!

I love you guys! Thanks for the book win. Nothing better than getting books in the mail. :)
