I saw an interesting question over at a blog I follow, Swooning Over Books and want to get your thoughts.
If you pick up a book for free, or deeply discounted, and find out it's the first in a series of say 4-5 books and the rest are $2.99 each and they're only 150 pages each, would you buy the rest of the series or cut your losses and not read anymore?
Me? I'd buy each book one at a time and if the quality of the story keeps me hooked such that I HAD to buy the next, I'd do it. I don't sit down and read a book in a day anymore, so 150 pages will give me hours of pleasure.
To go to a movie costs $9, sporting event, concert, play . . . etc more for several hours of entertainment--let alone the obscene amount of money I'll pay for a day of skiing, though that one I can rationalize--I get exercise as well as entertainment, so if I rationalize it that way, why wouldn't I?
Also, I want to support a good author. What about you? How do you value books and reading?
